The Aire Valley Transport Group was formed in the Spring of 2003 by a group of transport enthusiasts from other societies in the Aire Valley.
The aim of the AVTG is to restore vehicles that are of historical importance back to their former glory, and put them on show to the public.
The group has now over 45 vehicles in its care making it one of the largest collections in the area, it also has a collection of road and enamel signs, traffic lights, petrol cans and pumps, and also a collection of bus memorabilia inc ticket machines, enamel and cast signs, badges,...the list goes on.
The group is open to anyone with an interest in transport (with or without a vehicle).

Born in 1974
My main interests are all forms of vintage transport/machinery, including the restoration and showing which i carry out in my spare time.
I have a large collection ranging from bicycles to buses as well as lots of memorabilia, which together with friends collections form the Aire Valley Transport Group
I also like walking with my dogs of which i usually have one with me at most shows
Currently I work for First Bus in Leeds

1948 Bristol L6A Beadle 31 seat coach
This coach was delivered to Royal Blue, the express coaching subsidiary of Western/Southern National Omnibus Company being owned by Western National
It is fitted with a 7.7 litre AEC engine as specified by Royal Blue as Bristol were at this time still developing and proving their AVW engine
The coachwork, largely to Duple design, was contracted out to Beadles of Dartford as the coach building capacity during the post war recovery period and features staggered seating to allow a little more elbow room in the 7'6" width of the vehicle.

new to West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (Metro)withdrawn 1980
bought by 2 group members in August 2000 as can be seen from photos it has had some repanelling & full repaint as well as mechanical repairs returning to the road in may 2002.
The bus is currently painted in a replica 1980's all over advert livery (the livery was originally carried by MUA47P) for Metro Train which was and still is part of West Yorkshire PTE's operations

The first test runs of the Aire Valley Transport Groups 1938 Leyland TS8 it will be launched on Saturday 17th May at the Haworth 40's weekend with full wartime markings and blast netting.
